Fresh Valley Farms partners with Unearthed Organics to offer truly exceptional heirloom beans and milling corn grown right here in the North Okanagan.
Meet the Farmer: Jordan Marr
Unearthed Organics is the farm of Jordan Marr, a small-scale organic farmer with a deep commitment to flavour, freshness, and agricultural biodiversity. Jordan focuses on crops that are often overlooked in Canada = dry beans and corn grown for cornmeal. These crops are allowed to fully mature in the field, then carefully dried and stored so they reach customers within a year of harvest, not several years later as is common with industrial grain and legumes.
Flavour first farming
Freshly harvested heirloom beans and corn taste dramatically different from commodity versions. They cook better, mill better, and reconnect cooks with what these crops are meant to be. Jordan also brings a deep respect for history to his work, growing varieties with long cultural stories and regional significance, and helping keep those seeds and flavours alive.
Crops Grown at Fresh Valley Farms
Unearthed Organics operates on leased land at Fresh Valley Farms in Armstrong, making this partnership both practical and personal. The beans, popcorn, and cornmeal sold by Fresh Valley are grown by Jordan on our land, using organic practices rooted in soil health and long-term stewardship. This collaboration keeps food production local, transparent, and deeply connected to place.
Beyond the Field
Jordan is an active voice in British Columbia agriculture. He hosts the Farming in British Columbia podcast and the Organic BC Podcast, serves on the board of the Certified Organic Associations of BC, and regularly contributes to public conversations about farming, food systems, and rural life. We are proud to work with Unearthed Organics and to offer their beans and corn as part of our pantry.
