BC agriculture needs a clear voice at the policy table.

About the BC Agriculture Council (BCAC)

BC Agriculture Council (BCAC) is the lead industry advocate for sector-wide priorities in British Columbia. BCAC’s mission is to support and grow a competitive agriculture sector by fostering industry collaboration and shaping effective public policy.

BCAC delivers a unified voice to government through 29 member farm associations. Together, those associations represent over 20,000 farming families and about 96% of provincial farm gate sales in British Columbia.

BCAC is based in Abbotsford, British Columbia.

Key advocacy priorities

BCAC’s advocacy priorities come from ongoing consultation with their member associations. Their current sector priorities include:

  • Water security and storage
  • Cost of production
  • Business risk management programs
  • Access to labour
  • Emergency management and climate readiness

Fresh Valley Farms connection

Fresh Valley Farms supports BCAC because strong farms need strong policies. BCAC works on practical issues that affect day-to-day farm viability, including water, labour, costs, and climate readiness.

Fresh Valley Farms co-owner Annelise Grube-Cavers serves on the BCAC board as a Director-at-Large representing organics.
