Fresh Valley Farms recently installed a large new solar array that will power much of our daily farm work, from buildings and equipment to how we deliver food to our customers.
The panels sit right here on the farm and are designed to generate a significant portion of our electricity needs. That means fewer fossil fuels, lower operating emissions, and more control over how our energy is produced. For a working organic livestock farm, energy use matters. Cold storage, processing, packing days, and deliveries all add up. This system helps us meet those needs while staying aligned with our values.

One of the most exciting parts of this upgrade is our plan to upgrade to a new electric delivery van. Powered by the same solar system, the van will be used to transport meat, eggs, and customer orders to pickup locations across the Okanagan, Shuswap, Thompson, and Kootenay regions. In practical terms, that means many of your orders will travel from our farm to your pickup point using energy generated right here on the land.

This project fits naturally into how we already farm. Regenerative agriculture focuses on long-term systems. Healthy soil. Thoughtful grazing. Planning for future generations. Moving toward renewable energy is another step in that same direction. It reduces our reliance on external inputs and helps close the loop between how food is produced, stored, and delivered.
We know many of our customers care deeply about where their food comes from and how it is produced. This solar installation is part of our ongoing effort to farm responsibly and transparently.
