Agri-tourism is part of how we connect food, land, and people. Inviting the public onto the farm helps build trust, share knowledge, and create a deeper understanding of how pasture-based farming works in practice.

Agri-tourism at Fresh Valley Farms

Agri-tourism gives people a chance to see where their food comes from. Visitors can walk the land, observe animals on pasture, and understand the systems behind grass-fed beef, pastured pork, and free-range chicken.

Transparency matters. Seeing animals outdoors, moving through paddocks, and interacting with their environment answers questions that labels alone cannot.

Immersive Education

Education is a core goal. Farm visits, informal tours, and community events allow us to explain rotational grazing, soil health, animal welfare, and biodiversity in real time. These conversations help bridge the gap between consumers and agriculture. They also support better food choices rooted in knowledge rather than marketing.

Agri-tourism supports stewardship. By sharing why we protect riparian areas, maintain hedgerows, and manage pasture diversity, we show how working farms can also function as healthy ecosystems. This approach aligns with our role as Land Stewards with the Okanagan Similkameen Stewardship Society and reinforces the idea that agriculture and conservation can work together.

Fresh Valley Farms has always been a place for community. The Meggait family farm has hosted church picnics, community ball games, weddings, reunions, and Cub Scouts gatherings since the 1920s. Today, that tradition continues through local partnerships, school visits, and collaboration with other food producers. Agritourism creates space for these relationships to grow, whether through shared learning, meaningful events, or simple conversations at the farm gate.

The Business of Agri-Tourism

From a business perspective, agri-tourism supports direct-to-consumer sales. When people visit the farm, they better understand the value of pasture-raised meat and regenerative practices. This connection builds long-term customer relationships and keeps food dollars circulating locally.

Agri-tourism at Fresh Valley Farms is about access, honesty, and education. By opening the farm in thoughtful ways, we help people see farming as it truly is. Working land. Living systems. Real food, grown with care.
