We have some big news to share. Annelise Grube-Cavers has been nominated for BC Outstanding Young Farmer of the Year, and we could not be more proud.
This nomination recognizes farmers who lead with care, skill, and long-term thinking. It celebrates people who are building strong farms while also contributing to their communities and the future of agriculture in British Columbia. To see Annelise named among this year’s nominees is both an honour and a moment of deep gratitude.
Annelise is a third-generation farmer and the owner and operator of Fresh Valley Farms in Spallumcheen, BC. Alongside Steve, her partner in life and in business, she raises pasture-raised, certified organic meats and eggs and sells them directly to eaters across the Okanagan, Shuswap, Thompson, and Kootenay regions. The farm is rooted in regenerative practices, careful land stewardship, and a belief that good food starts with healthy soil and animals.
Her work extends well beyond the farm gate. In 2024, Annelise was appointed as a Director of the BC Agriculture Council representing Organic BC. In 2025, she was elected to the BCAC executive and now serves as Chair of the Land Use Committee. This same year, she was also nominated to sit on the Premier’s Task Force on Agriculture and the Food Economy, working alongside other producers to help shape the future of farming in the province.
Closer to home, Annelise serves on the board of the North Okanagan Organic Association and volunteers at her kids’ school whenever farm life allows. She cares deeply about agriculture, food systems, and community. She also loves food in the most practical sense. Growing it. Harvesting it. Cooking it. Sharing it around the table with family, friends, and customers.
The BC Outstanding Young Farmer program includes an in-person judging and presentation process in January. Annelise and Steve will be heading to Abbotsford to take part, share the story of Fresh Valley Farms, and represent the values that guide our work every day.
We are grateful to everyone who supports this farm. This nomination reflects not just one person, but a whole network of customers, neighbours, mentors, farm workers, and family who believe in local food and regenerative agriculture.
Thank you for being part of our story.
